IWS – Institute for Western Surgery – recently celebrated our sixth year anniversary in China. Starting with establishing and managing the sports medicine team for the U.S. Olympic Team at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, IWS has developed the largest independent specialty surgical practice in China. Currently, we have clinics in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
As part of our expansion plans, we are looking for a Full-time Orthopedic Surgeon with Expertise in Sports and Trauma to join our team in Shanghai, China.
You will be supported by an American board-certified and fellowship-trained physiatrist, and a large team of athletic trainers based in China. IWS has provided sports medicine support to the NBA; CBA (China Basketball Association); and the NFL as well to the Shanghai Rugby Football Club and many of the leading international schools in China. You will have direct input into our new kids wellness program and joint venture sports medicine clinics.
IWS operates out of a modern international outpatient center in Shanghai and in private hospitals in Beijing and Guangzhou. While the majority of our patients are expatriates – foreigners living in China, there is increasing number of our patients that are local Chinese.
Requirements
If you had taught in an academic setting and would like to continue teaching elsewhere, there will be an opportunity of professorship training Chinese surgeons and medical students at an accredited university.
A competitive salary is offered along with free housing, transportation, and insurance. Our experienced team of nurses and staff will take care of your daily administrative duties so you are only responsible for what matters the most – treating your patients.
You will be based in one of our private clinics in Shanghai – one of the most modern cities in the world – although you might be required to travel to IWS’ other clinics in Beijing and Southern China. Between vacation time and public holidays there will be ample time to travel and explore Asia or other countries of your liking.
